The Quality Education Support Programme I (QESP I) was designed with the aim of addressing selected national priorities from the National Strategy for Education Development (NSED) of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Mid-Term Action Plans for its implementation until 2020. This has been the first phase of EU support in the education sector in Tajikistan in the amount of 15 million euro, which built a platform of partnership, dialogue and understanding in the sector in preparation for a scaling up the implementation of the policy reform supported through subsequent phases. On policy level, the implementation of QESP I in the education sector of Tajikistan contributed to the development of a modern education system, able to prepare informed, qualified and ready for the “world of work” citizens. In particular, specific interventions of the programme supported the delivery of efficient and effective education service at secondary and initial VET education in order to improve learning outcomes.
The Implementation of QESP I was carryed-out through realisation of two projects:
Lot 1 – “Technical Assistance to the Ministry of Education and Science in the Areas of In-Service Teacher Training; Learning Assessment; Planning, Budgeting and Monitoring; and Curriculum Development’’ implemented by a consortium led by DAI Human Dynamics, and
Lot 2 – “Technical Assistance to the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population in the Area of In-Service Teacher Training for the Initial TVET system” implemented by a consortium led by GOPA Worldwide Consultants.
The two projects were realised in the period 2017-2021, supporting the progress of policy reforms in education in Tajikistan aiming to improve the quality of general secondary education and vocational education and training, and strengthening the nexus with the labour market leading to more effective school-to-work transition of graduates.
